We aim to make learning engaging, practical and purposeful, giving children opportunities to ask questions, explore new ideas and develop their skills. You can find more information on our curriculum page for these topics.
Please ensure that children come to school with the correct PE kit on these days.
Reading
Reading is a very important part of life in Year 2. We encourage children to read regularly at home and to enjoy a wide range of books. Reading together, discussing stories and talking about new vocabulary are all fantastic ways to support your child's learning. 10 minutes of reading each day can make a big difference!
Spellings
Spellings are an important part of our learning in Year 2. Each week, children will be given a set of spellings to practise at home, linked to the spelling patterns and rules we are learning in class. We encourage children to practise their spellings regularly and in a variety of ways. Making spelling practice fun and engaging can really help children to remember new words.
Weekly spellings will be shared with parents and carers through ClassDojo. The children will receive spelling booklets at the beginning of half terms, which contain all the weekly spellings.
Doodle Learning
Homework will be used to support and reinforce the learning taking place in school. Children will be set activities through 'DoodleLearning', which are designed to complement the learning taking place in school and help them practise key skills at their own level.
Activities may include:
We encourage children to complete homework independently where possible, with support from an adult when needed.
ClassDojo is an important way for us to keep in touch with parents and carers.
We will use it to share:
Please check ClassDojo regularly so that you don't miss any important Year 2 updates.
There are lots of simple ways you can support your child's learning at home.
